We all want the best for our cats and finding the right cattery can be a bit of a nightmare. Well, we just made that easy for you. Our Cattery Directory will have most, if not all, of the Catteries listed, and you will be able to find a Cattery near you. If you are a Cattery, we suggest you register your cattery and then you can be found by thousands of Cat lovers by registering your Cattery in Spain.
Expect the best of all services from a cattery in Spain, the same as you would in your own country. If the standards do not meet your requirements then checkout another Cattery.
If a cattery doesn't have any reviews or testimonials, then it is probably best to avoid them. Those that do have testimonials and reviews are more likely to be providing a better service as they are being recommended by those that use that Cattery.
Go take a look. Most Catteries will allow you to take a peek at their Catteries and proudly show off their services. You will soon know if it is suitable for your cat. Some Catteries also incorporate Kennels, and if your Cat is frightened of dogs, or them barking, be aware that this can cause stress to your cat. Some Catteries that are encompassed in Kennels may have a completely separated area, or may be indoors with a run or section of the run outside.
Many Catteries will only provide for a minimum stay of 3 days, so if your looking for an overnight stay, then it might be better looking for a Cat Sitter or Pet Sitter.
Be aware that there are many private individuals providing Cattery services that may not be legal, ask the question. If the Cattery requires you to pay in cash, then it is likely that they are not declaring the income or operating legally.
Illegal catteries or cat carers could be a problem if something were to ever happen to your cat as they are unlikely to have the insurance coverage necessary. If you are a Cattery or Kennels in Spain, we can provide you with the requisite Kennel & Cattery insurance to protect you and your clients, the buildings, contents and liability cover.
Most catteries are family run by people who are passionate about cats and will normally live on the premises 24/7 as it is probably their home as well as a cattery. Some are small and personal, others can accommodate up to 50 cats or more, depending on where they are and how much space they have.
If you visit the Cattery you will soon find out. Many will have indoor and outdoor areas that can be separated or closed off at night so that the cat is indoors at night. Outside runs can often have trees and climbing toys and plenty for the cat to do or lounge on during the day. The nighttime area may have a heated bed, or specific enclosures to keep them safe at night.
An important question if your cats don't get on with other cats. Most will not mix cats together, unless you have several cats from the same family staying there at the same time, so that there is little chance of any contagious diseases or fleas spreading and that they do not fight.
Some cats are fussy about their foods. Catteries know this and will often ask you what foods your cats prefer, or you can take in your own brand of cat food and get a small discount of the price of the stay. Catteries will cater to most requirements as long as you make them aware. Special dietary needs and special care can also be given to your cat, so let them know at the time of booking as some services will cost more.
Veterinary care on site might be something you need to know if you are sending your cat to the Cattery to recover from an operation, or an illness. Unless the Cattery is a Veterinarian anyway, they are not likely to be on site. They may have someone they can call 24/7 in an emergency. Let your Cattery know the details of your cat's Vet i case they need some form of medication or your cat needs some other kind of treatment.
Our Cattery directory will provide individual details of the Cattery that has listed in our Directory. You can then see at a glance which Cattery has the services you are looking for, which one is near you and what they charge.
If you are looking for a specialised Cattery in Spain whereby you may have some distance to travel, and which may be well worth doing if you are going to be away for a while, you may want or can often request a collection and delivery service, door to door.
